Introduction by the Chair of Department
Currently the world is faced with environmental challenges such as environmental pollution, Climate change, global warming and over-exploitation of natural resources and loss of biodiversity. Many countries have made efforts of curbing these challenges through legislation of relevant laws and policies. However, natural resource utilization and management requires a holistic and multidisciplinary approach and, in many times, it has been the missing link. The department of Environmental Sciences seeks to address this by promoting environmental sustainability through training, research and community service for socio-economic transformation of our communities.
The department offers four undergraduate degree programmes and two Masters programmes:
Bachelor of Environmental Sciences
Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Resource Conservation)
Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Community Development)
Bachelor of Science in Community Resource Management
Our programmes equip the trainees with relevant technical skills and professional knowledge that will enable them to effectively manage, conserve and protect the environment and community resources through multifaceted approaches. The department is committed to producing holistic graduates through quality training and research in sustainable and integrated environmental management approaches. The chair’s office will be glad to assist you in any way we can, and would be delighted to have you among us.
