Applicants to the programme must fulfil the following requirements:
i. At least a Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) degree in Environmental Science or related disciplines such as Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Geology, Meteorology, Wildlife Management, Aquatic Sciences and Environmental Studies from Machakos University or any other recognized University; OR
ii. A Second-Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree in the above disciplines with at least two years of relevant experience after the first degree in areas related to Environmental Science.

Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:
i. At least a Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) Degree in Environmental Studies and related disciplines such as Geography, Natural Resources Management, Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Urban & Regional Planning, Developmental Studies from Machakos University or any other recognized university; OR
ii. A Lower Second Class (Lower Second) Degree in the above disciplines with at least two years of relevant experience after the first degree in areas related to Environment and Development.

i) A holder of a bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Honours –Upper Division or equivalent in Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics or any Agricultural Sciences degree (with a strong background in economics or business) from a university recognized by Machakos University Senate; OR
ii) A holder of Second Class Honours – Lower Division degree in the same discipline as in (1) above from a University recognized by the senate, but must show proof of academic advancement either through research and publication or postgraduate training in the same fields or at least two year of relevant field experience; OR
iii) A holder of a Pass degree in the same discipline as in (1) above and a relevant postgraduate diploma from a recognized University or at least five years of field experience and evidence of research publication since graduation.

i) A holder of a bachelor’s degree with at least a Second-Class Honours –Upper Division or equivalent in Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Economics, Food security, Agricultural Education and Extension or any Agricultural Sciences degree from a university recognized by Machakos University Senate; OR
ii) A holder of Second-Class Honours – Lower Division degree in the same discipline as in (1) above from a University recognized by the senate but must show proof of academic advancement either through research and publication or postgraduate training in the same fields or at least two year of relevant field experience.

The following are the minimum requirements for admission into the Master of Science in Agricultural Extension:
i) A holder of a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education and Extension, any other degree in the agricultural sciences, with a minimum of Second-Class Honors –Upper Division or its equivalent, from Machakos University or a University recognized by Machakos University Senate; OR
ii) A holder of Second-Class Honors –Lower Division degree in the same discipline as in (1) from Machakos University or a University recognized by the senate, but must show proof of two years working experience in a relevant field and evidence of field research; OR
iii) A holder of a Pass degree in the same discipline as in (i) and a relevant postgraduate diploma from a recognized university or at least five years of field experience.
